Objective
By the end of this lesson, Kelsey will be able to recognize and create simple patterns.
Materials and Prep
- Colorful blocks or toys
- Pen and paper
No prior knowledge required. Just bring your enthusiasm!
Activities
- Create a pattern with the colorful blocks (e.g., red, blue, red, blue).
- Draw a pattern on paper using different shapes or colors.
- Go on a pattern hunt around the house.
Ask Kelsey to continue the pattern and then create a new one for you to solve.
Let Kelsey color in the pattern and then challenge her to create her own.
Encourage Kelsey to find objects that follow a pattern (e.g., striped towel, polka dot pillow).
