Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create and perform your own music using simple homemade instruments.
Materials and Prep
Materials needed: empty containers (like cans or bottles), rubber bands, paper towel rolls, rice or beans, markers, and tape.
Prior to the lesson, prepare the materials and set up a space where you can make some noise!
Activities
1. Create your own musical instruments using the materials provided. For example, you can make a drum by stretching a rubber band over an empty container.
2. Decorate your instruments with markers to make them unique and special.
3. Experiment with different sounds by adding rice or beans to your instruments. How does the sound change?
4. Practice playing your instruments and create a short musical composition to perform for your family or friends.
Talking Points
