Objective

By the end of this lesson, your 1-year-old will have fun exploring and learning about Spring through engaging activities.

Materials and Prep

Materials:

  • Colorful flowers (real or artificial)
  • Plastic eggs
  • Small watering can or spray bottle
  • Blanket for picnic

Prep: Set up a cozy outdoor area for the activities. Ensure all materials are safe for your child to interact with.

Activities

  • Flower Exploration: Show your child different flowers and let them touch and smell them. Talk about the colors and textures.
  • Egg Hunt: Hide plastic eggs in the yard or around the house for your child to find. Encourage them to open the eggs and explore what's inside.
  • Watering Fun: Let your child water plants with a small watering can or spray bottle. Show them how water helps plants grow.
  • Picnic Time: Have a mini picnic with your child outdoors. Enjoy snacks together and talk about the sounds and sights of Spring.

Talking Points

  • Pointing at flowers: "Look at the pretty flowers! Can you touch them gently?"
  • Exploring eggs: "What's inside the egg? Let's open it and see!"
  • Watering plants: "Plants need water to drink, just like you drink your milk!"
  • Picnic time: "Let's sit on the blanket and enjoy our snacks. What do you hear outside?"
