By the end of this lesson, you will learn about space and planets, and have fun exploring the wonders of the universe!

Materials and Prep

Materials: Paper, crayons, markers, and your imagination!

Prep: Find a comfortable space with good lighting to do your activities.

Activities

  • Draw Your Own Planet: Use your paper and crayons to create your very own planet. What would it look like? What color is it?
  • Planet Walk: Place different colored papers around the room and pretend they are different planets. Hop from planet to planet and describe each one.
  • Space Story Time: Create a story about traveling to space. What adventures would you have? Who would you meet?

  • Space is Big: "Space is so big that it goes on forever and ever, with lots of stars and planets to explore."
  • The Sun: "The Sun is a big star that gives us light and warmth. It's like a giant ball of fire in the sky!"
  • Planets: "There are many planets in space, like Earth, Mars, and Jupiter. They all look different and are very interesting."
  • Spaceships: "People use spaceships to travel to space. They are like big rockets that blast off into the sky!"
  • Astronauts: "Astronauts are brave people who go to space in spaceships. They wear special suits to keep them safe."
