Materials and Prep

  • Clear glass
  • Water
  • Paper towels
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Parent's assistance for some activities

No prior knowledge required, just come with a curious mind!

Activities

  • Water Droplets: Fill a clear glass with water and observe how the water droplets form on the outside of the glass.
  • Surface Tension: Try to float a paperclip on water. What happens when you gently place it on the surface?
  • Water Art: Use food coloring to create art in water. Watch how the colors mix and move.

Talking Points

  • Water is Amazing: "Water is special because it can exist in three forms: solid (ice), liquid (water), and gas (steam)."
  • Surface Tension: "Surface tension is what allows some objects to float on water. It's like a thin 'skin' on the surface of the water."
  • Color Mixing: "When you mix different colors in water, they blend together to create new colors. It's like magic happening right in front of your eyes!"
