Objective

By the end of this lesson, Sarah will be able to understand and compare different sizes and measurements.

Materials and Prep

  • Assorted objects of different sizes (e.g., small toys, big books)
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Paper and markers

No prior knowledge needed. Just bring your curiosity and excitement!

Activities

  • Size Sorting: Have Sarah group objects by size - small, medium, large. Encourage her to describe each group.
  • Measure Me: Let Sarah measure different objects using the measuring tape or ruler. Help her record the measurements on paper.
  • Draw and Compare: Ask Sarah to draw two objects of different sizes and then compare them side by side.

  • "Let's put all the small toys in this box and the big books on the shelf. Can you show me which is bigger?"
  • "When we measure, we can see how long something is. Let's measure how long your favorite toy is!"
  • "Drawing is like making a picture of something. Can you draw a big tree and a small flower for me?"
