Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will have improved your balance, coordination, and strength by practicing walking up the slide.

Materials and Prep

  • Playground with a slide
  • Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes
  • Water bottle for hydration

No special preparation needed, just make sure the slide is safe and free from any obstacles.

Activities

  • Warm-up: Start with a light jog or some jumping jacks to get your body ready for movement.
  • Practice Walking Up the Slide: Begin by walking up the slide slowly, focusing on your balance and foot placement.
  • Race Against Time: Time yourself to see how quickly you can walk up the slide without losing your balance.
  • Challenge Yourself: Try walking up the slide backward for an extra challenge.

Talking Points

  • Remember to keep your body upright and engage your core muscles for better balance. Say: "Keep your back straight and core tight as you walk up the slide."
  • Use your arms for stability and support as you ascend. Say: "Your arms can help you maintain balance, use them to guide your movement."
  • Focus on your breathing to stay relaxed and in control. Say: "Take deep breaths to stay calm and focused while walking up the slide."
  • Don't rush, take your time to master each step. Say: "Slow and steady wins the race, take your time and focus on each step."
