  • Scissors
  • Your imagination!

No prior knowledge needed, just bring your creativity!

Activities

  • Create a Fraction Pizza: Draw a circle on the paper and divide it into halves. Color one half with one color and the other half with a different color. Discuss how you have two equal parts or halves of the pizza.
  • Cut out a Fraction Rainbow: Draw a rainbow on the paper and cut it out. Cut the rainbow into three equal parts. Talk about how you have three equal parts or thirds of the rainbow.
  • Coloring Fun: Draw different shapes like squares or rectangles on the paper. Color half of the shape and ask the student to color the other half. Introduce the concept of halves.

Talking Points

  • "Imagine we have a yummy pizza. If we cut it into two equal parts, we have two halves. One for you and one for me!"
  • "Look at this beautiful rainbow! If we cut it into three equal parts, we have three thirds. Each part is like a different color of the rainbow!"
  • "Let's color this square. If we color half of it blue, can you color the other half yellow? We are sharing it equally!"
