Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to legibly write all upper- and lowercase manuscript letters.

Materials and Prep

  • Plain white paper
  • Crayons or markers
  • Printed alphabet chart
  • Clear workspace

No prior knowledge required. Just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

Activities

  • Color the uppercase and lowercase letters on the alphabet chart.

  • Practice tracing the letters on the chart with different colored crayons.

  • Use the plain paper to try writing the letters on your own. Remember to start from the top!

  • Create a letter hunt game where you find objects around the house that start with different letters.

  • Draw a picture using as many letters as you can. Each letter can represent something in your drawing!

Talking Points

  • "Let's start by coloring the big 'A' and little 'a' with our favorite colors."

  • "Now, let's trace the 'B' with the blue crayon. Remember to go from top to bottom!"

  • "Great job! Now, try writing the 'C' on your own. You can do it!"

  • "Can you find something in the room that starts with 'D'? Like 'dinosaur' or 'dog'!"

  • "Let's draw a sun using the letter 'S'. What other letters can we use in our picture?"
