Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explore the connection between art and emotions, and understand how art therapy can be used as a form of self-expression and healing.
Materials and Prep
Materials needed: paper, pencils, colored markers or pencils, and a quiet space to work in.
No prior knowledge is required, just an open mind and willingness to explore your feelings through art.
Activities
- Emotion Drawing: Choose an emotion (such as joy, sadness, anger) and express it through a drawing. Focus on colors, shapes, and lines that represent that emotion to you.
- Collage Therapy: Create a collage using images and words from magazines that represent how you are feeling today. Reflect on why you chose each element.
- Guided Visualization: Close your eyes and imagine a peaceful place. Draw or paint what you see in your mind, focusing on the details that make you feel calm and safe.
