By the end of this lesson, you will be able to analyze and discuss movies from a language arts perspective, focusing on reading skills such as comprehension, vocabulary, and story elements.
Materials and Prep
- A movie of your choice
- A notebook or paper
- A pencil or pen
Activities
- Choose a movie you enjoy and watch it.
- After watching the movie, write a short summary of what happened.
- Create a list of vocabulary words from the movie.
- Discuss the movie with a family member or friend.
Take notes while watching the movie. Pay attention to the characters, setting, plot, and any new or interesting words you hear.
Include the main characters, where and when the story took place, and the important events that occurred.
Choose at least five words that were new to you or that you found interesting. Write down their definitions and use each word in a sentence.
Talk about your favorite parts, the characters you liked, and what you learned from the movie. Ask them about their thoughts and opinions as well.
