Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will understand how robots work and be able to create your own simple robot model.

Materials and Prep

Materials needed: paper, markers or crayons, scissors, glue, cardboard, and any recycled materials you want to use for building your robot.

Make sure to have a clear workspace to build your robot without any distractions.

Activities

1. Draw your dream robot on a piece of paper. Think about what tasks you want your robot to do.

2. Cut out the parts of your robot drawing and glue them onto a piece of cardboard to create a 3D robot model.

3. Use recycled materials like bottle caps, buttons, or straws to add details to your robot model.

Talking Points

  • "Robots are machines that can do tasks on their own without human help. They are like helpful friends!"
  • "Robots have sensors that help them understand the world around them. Just like how we use our eyes and ears to see and hear things."
  • "Robots can be programmed to follow instructions. It's like giving them a special set of rules to follow."
  • "When you build your own robot model, you are using your creativity and imagination to bring your robot friend to life!"
