Materials and Prep
- Science books or articles related to second-grade level topics
- Writing materials (pencils, paper)
Activities

Choose a science book or article that interests you. Read the title and look at the cover. Predict what the book might be about based on the title and cover.

Start reading the book or article. As you read, underline or highlight any new science-related vocabulary words you come across.

Write down at least three new vocabulary words you learned from the reading. Look up the definitions of these words and write them down next to each word.

After finishing the reading, write a short summary of what you learned. Include the main idea and at least three supporting details.

Share your summary with a family member or friend. Discuss what you found interesting or surprising in the reading.
