Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and use basic English grammar concepts related to spiders and bats.

Materials and Prep

  • Spider and bat pictures or toys
  • Whiteboard or paper and markers
  • Spider and bat books (optional)

Activities

  1. Spider and Bat Sort: Show the toddler pictures or toys of spiders and bats. Ask them to identify which is a spider and which is a bat. Write the words "spider" and "bat" on the whiteboard or paper and have the toddler match the pictures or toys to the correct word.
  2. Spider and Bat Actions: Demonstrate different actions that spiders and bats can do, such as crawling, flying, hanging upside down, etc. Ask the toddler to imitate the actions and describe what the spider or bat is doing using simple sentences like "The spider is crawling" or "The bat is flying."
  3. Spider and Bat Story: Read a spider or bat book to the toddler, or create a simple story together using the pictures or toys. Encourage the toddler to use complete sentences to describe the actions and characteristics of the spiders and bats in the story.

  • "Bats can fly and sleep upside down."
