Materials and Prep

  • Music player with your favorite dance songs
  • No prior knowledge needed, just bring your energy and enthusiasm!

Activities

  • Dance Counting: Dance to the beat of the music and count each move you make. For example, "1, 2, 3, 4" as you jump or spin.
  • Shape Dance: Create shapes with your body while dancing, like a triangle, square, or circle. Count the sides of each shape as you dance.
  • Math Dance Challenge: Challenge yourself to do math problems in your head while dancing. For example, add or subtract numbers as you move around.

Talking Points

  • Counting: "Math can be fun! We can practice counting while we dance. Let's count together as we move."
  • Shapes: "Did you know we can make shapes with our bodies? Let's try dancing like a triangle. How many sides does a triangle have?"
