Objective

By the end of this lesson, Elisabeth will be able to understand that trees are living things just like us and have unique characteristics.

Materials and Prep

  • Outdoor space with trees
  • No additional materials required

Activities

  • Tree Observation: Take Elisabeth outside to observe different trees. Encourage her to notice the different shapes, sizes, and colors of the leaves.
  • Tree Hug: Teach Elisabeth how to give a tree a gentle hug. Explain that trees are living things and can feel our touch.
  • Leaf Collection: Help Elisabeth collect fallen leaves from different trees. Discuss the differences she observes in the leaves.

  • What makes trees special: "Trees are special because they are living things just like us. They grow, breathe, and need water and sunlight to survive."
  • How trees are like us: "Trees have roots like our feet that help them stand tall. Their leaves are like our skin, protecting them from the sun."
