  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup cooked ground beef
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Oven preheated to 375°F
  • Adult supervision for using the oven

Activities

  • Fraction Fun: Learn about fractions by dividing the pizza crust into halves and quarters. Discuss how many pieces make a whole pizza.
  • Measure Up: Practice measuring the chopped onions and shredded mozzarella cheese using measuring cups. Discuss the concept of volume and portions.
  • Creative Cooking: Assemble your mini pizza by sprinkling the onions, ground beef, and mozzarella cheese on top of the crust. Discuss how different ingredients come together to make a delicious meal.
  • Bake and Enjoy: Place your pizza in the preheated oven with adult supervision. While it bakes, discuss how heat transforms the ingredients into a tasty dish. Once ready, enjoy your homemade pizza!

Talking Points

  • "Let's learn about fractions! When we cut the pizza crust into two equal parts, each part is called a half. When we cut it into four equal parts, each part is called a quarter."
  • "Measuring is important in cooking. We use measuring cups to make sure we have the right amount of ingredients. Can you help me measure the chopped onions?"
  • "Cooking is like a fun experiment. We mix different ingredients together to create something yummy. What do you think will happen when we add the cheese on top?"
  • "The oven helps us bake our pizza by using heat. Heat makes the cheese melt and the crust crispy. Remember to always be careful around hot surfaces like the oven!"
