Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to ride your bike confidently and safely.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Bike, helmet, knee and elbow pads (optional)

Prep: Make sure the bike is the right size and the helmet fits properly.

Activities

  • Practice balancing on your bike by scooting around without pedaling.

  • Learn to start and stop your bike smoothly by pushing off with your feet.

  • Practice turning by steering your bike gently in different directions.

  • Set up a mini obstacle course with cones or markers to practice maneuvering skills.
