Materials and Prep

  • Colorful construction paper
  • Red and black crayons
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Printed pictures of Ladybirds

No prior knowledge needed, just a curious mind!

Activities

  • Create Ladybird Art: Help your child draw and cut out circles from the construction paper. Color some red and some black to make Ladybird spots. Glue them onto a paper to create their own Ladybird art.
  • Ladybird Hunt: Hide some printed Ladybird pictures around the house or garden for your child to find. Encourage them to collect the Ladybirds and count how many they found.
  • Sing & Dance: Teach your child a fun Ladybird song and dance together. Use movements like fluttering wings and crawling like a Ladybird.

Talking Points

  • Ladybirds are small insects that have bright colors like red and black. Say, "Ladybirds are so pretty with their red and black colors!"
  • Ladybirds have spots on their back. Say, "Look at the spots on the Ladybird's back, they are like little dots!"
  • Ladybirds like to fly and crawl on leaves. Say, "Watch the Ladybird fly and crawl, it's so fun to see!"
  • Ladybirds are helpful in gardens because they eat pests. Say, "Ladybirds are like little helpers in the garden, eating the bad bugs!"
