Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about the history of Brownies, how to make a simple brownie recipe, and have fun decorating your own brownies!

Materials and Prep

  • Ingredients for brownies (flour, sugar, cocoa powder, butter, eggs)
  • Baking pan
  • Oven (with adult supervision)
  • Mixing bowls and utensils
  • Decorating supplies (sprinkles, frosting, etc.)
  • An apron to keep clean!

Make sure to wash your hands before starting and ask an adult for help when using the oven.

Activities

  • History of Brownies: Learn about how brownies were created and why they are called brownies. You can draw a picture of the first brownie!
  • Brownie Baking: Follow a simple brownie recipe step by step. Mix the ingredients and pour the batter into the baking pan. Ask an adult to help you bake them in the oven.
  • Decorate Your Brownies: Once the brownies are baked and cooled, have fun decorating them with frosting, sprinkles, or any toppings you like!
