Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will have fun creating your very own caterpillar using only your hands and imagination!
Materials and Prep
- Nothing! Just your hands and creativity.
- Make sure you have a clear workspace to work on.
Activities
Create a caterpillar by using your fingers to draw a line of dots on a piece of paper. Each dot represents a segment of the caterpillar's body.
Name your caterpillar and give it a fun personality. Is it silly? Shy? Brave?
Add eyes, a smile, and any other features to your caterpillar to bring it to life!
Once your caterpillar is complete, make up a story about it. Where does it live? What adventures does it go on?
Talking Points
"Let's use our fingers to make a caterpillar. Each dot we draw is a part of its body!"
"What should we name our caterpillar? Let's give it a special name that fits its personality."
"Now, let's give our caterpillar some eyes and a big smile. How does that make it look?"
"Can you tell me a story about our caterpillar? Where does it like to explore?"
