Materials and Prep

Materials: None required

Activities

1. Watch specific scenes from the movie Clueless that depict the stereotypes you mentioned. Take notes on the characters and how they are portrayed.

2. Reflect on your own experiences or observations related to stereotypes in real life. Write a short journal entry discussing your thoughts.

3. Create a collage or mood board representing different stereotypes in fashion and appearance. Use magazines or print out images from the internet.

Talking Points

  • Appearances can be deceiving. Just because someone fits a stereotype doesn't mean it's true for everyone.

  • It's important to look beyond someone's outward appearance and get to know them as a person.

  • Media, like movies and TV shows, often perpetuate stereotypes to create characters that are easy to understand quickly.

  • Remember that stereotypes are generalizations and don't apply to every individual within a group.
