Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about mountains, their formation, different types, and their importance to our planet.

Materials and Prep

  • Pen and paper
  • Colored pencils
  • Access to the internet for research (with parental supervision)
  • No prior knowledge needed, just curiosity and enthusiasm!

Activities

  • Mountain Drawing: Draw your own mountain, label its parts, and color it in with your favorite colors.
  • Mountain Research: Look up different types of mountains (volcanic, fold, block, etc.) and create a mini poster with fun facts about each type.
  • Mountain Diorama: Create a 3D diorama of a mountain scene using paper, clay, or any materials you have at home.

  • Mountains are formed in different ways: "Some mountains are made from volcanoes, while others are created when the Earth's plates push together."
