By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify primary and secondary colors using colored snakes and a color wheel.
Materials and Prep
- Colored snakes (red, blue, yellow, orange, green, purple)
- Color wheel reference sheet (can be drawn on paper)
- No prior knowledge needed
Activities
- Snake Sorting: Sort the colored snakes into two groups - primary colors and secondary colors.
- Color Wheel Match: Match each snake color to the corresponding section on the color wheel.
- Color Mixing: Experiment by placing two snakes together to see what new color they create.
Talking Points
- "Primary colors are the building blocks of all other colors. Can you name the primary colors?"
- "Secondary colors are created by mixing primary colors together. What happens when you mix red and yellow?"
- "The color wheel helps us visualize how colors relate to each other. Can you find the complementary color of green on the wheel?"
