Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify primary and secondary colours using coloured snakes and a colour wheel.
Materials and Prep
- Coloured snakes (red, blue, yellow, orange, green, purple)
- Colour wheel reference sheet (can be drawn on paper)
- No prior knowledge needed.
Activities
- Snake Sorting: Sort the coloured snakes into two groups - primary colours and secondary colours.
- Colour Wheel Match: Match each snake color to the corresponding section on the colour wheel.
- Colour Mixing: Experiment by placing two snakes together to see what new colour they create.
Talking Points
- "Primary colours are the building blocks of all other colours. Can you name the primary colours?"
- "Secondary colours are created by mixing primary colours together. What happens when you mix red and yellow?"
- "The colour wheel helps us visualize how colours relate to each other."
