No additional preparation is required.
Activities
- Read Monster-themed Picture Books: Start the lesson by reading monster-themed picture books together. Encourage the student to listen carefully and ask questions about the monsters in the stories.
- Create Monster Collage: Provide the student with construction paper, markers or crayons, scissors, and glue. Ask them to draw and cut out different monster body parts (e.g., eyes, mouths, arms, legs) from the construction paper. Then, have them glue the body parts together to create their own unique monster collage.
- Describe Your Monster: Ask the student to describe their monster collage using descriptive words. Encourage them to use adjectives to explain the size, color, and characteristics of their monster.
- Monster Storytelling: Have the student create a short story or describe an adventure involving their monster collage. Encourage them to use their imagination and incorporate the descriptive words they used earlier.
