Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to improve your handwriting skills and have fun practicing different writing styles.
Materials and Prep
Materials needed: pencil, eraser, lined paper
Prep: Make sure you have a quiet and comfortable space to work in.
Activities
1. Warm-up with tracing: Find a favorite quote or short poem online. Write it in your best handwriting on a piece of paper. Then, trace over the letters to get a feel for the shapes and flow of the words.
2. Rainbow writing: Choose a word and write it in different colors, each letter a different color. This will make practicing handwriting more fun!
3. Secret messages: Write a hidden message to a family member or friend using a secret code. Practice writing neatly and clearly to make sure your message can be read.
Talking Points
- Remember to hold your pencil with a tripod grip, using your thumb, index, and middle fingers.
- Say: "Let's practice making straight lines and curves. Try drawing a big loop like a roller coaster!"
- When writing, take your time and focus on each letter. Say: "Slow and steady wins the race!"
- It's okay to make mistakes! Use your eraser to fix any errors and keep practicing.
