Materials and Prep

Materials needed:

• Wooden board
• Toy hammer
• Plastic nails

No prior knowledge required. Just come ready to have fun!

Activities

• Practice Holding the Hammer

  Hold the toy hammer and practice swinging it gently in the air to get a feel for it.

• Hammering the Nail

  Place a plastic nail on the wooden board and demonstrate how to tap it gently with the hammer.

• Hammering Practice

  Let the student practice hammering plastic nails into the wooden board under supervision.

Talking Points

• "This is a hammer. We use it to hit nails into the wood."
• "Let's hold the hammer with two hands to be safe while hammering."
