Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to read and comprehend a Minecraft-themed story, and demonstrate understanding by answering questions.
Materials and Prep
- Minecraft-themed storybook
- Pen or pencil
- Printed comprehension questions (optional)
Prior knowledge of basic reading skills and familiarity with Minecraft is helpful.
Activities
- Introduce the Minecraft-themed storybook to the student.
- Read the story aloud to the student.
- Discuss the story.
- Comprehension questions (optional).
- Extension activity: Create a Minecraft-themed drawing.
Show the student the cover of the book and ask them what they think the story might be about based on the title and the cover image.
Read the story with enthusiasm, using different voices for different characters if possible. Encourage the student to follow along with their finger as you read.
Engage the student in a conversation about the story. Ask questions like "What was your favorite part of the story?" or "Why do you think the main character did that?"
If you have prepared comprehension questions, provide them to the student and have them answer them independently or discuss the answers together.
Encourage the student to draw a scene from the story or create their own Minecraft-inspired artwork.
