Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about the history of Pride Month, understand the importance of celebrating diversity, and create an artwork that represents inclusivity and love.

Materials and Prep

Materials needed: paper, colors (crayons, markers, or colored pencils).

No prior knowledge is required for this lesson. Just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

Activities

  • Create a Rainbow Flag: Draw and color a rainbow flag, the symbol of LGBTQ+ pride. Learn about the colors and what each represents.

  • Research and Draw an LGBTQ+ Activist: Choose an LGBTQ+ activist, research about them, and draw a portrait. Share with your family what you learned.

  • Write a Pride Poem: Express your feelings about love and acceptance in a short poem. Use colorful words to describe what Pride means to you.
