Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create a visual artwork inspired by squirrels and acorns.
Materials and Prep
- Construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers or crayons
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Start by discussing squirrels and acorns with your child. Talk about where squirrels live, what they eat, and how they collect acorns for the winter.
- Next, ask your child to draw a squirrel on a piece of construction paper using markers or crayons. Encourage them to be creative and use different colors.
- After they have finished drawing the squirrel, help them cut out the shape using scissors.
- Now, ask your child to draw several acorns on another piece of construction paper. They can use different colors to make them look more interesting.
- Help your child cut out the acorns as well.
- Finally, ask your child to glue the squirrel and the acorns onto a new piece of construction paper to create a scene. They can arrange the acorns around the squirrel to make it look like the squirrel is collecting them.
- Once the glue has dried, display the artwork proudly!
