Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to enhance your reading skills through engaging activities using legos and magnet tiles.

Materials and Prep

  • Legos
  • Magnet tiles
  • A flat surface to build on

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a clear space to build and play with your legos and magnet tiles.

Activities

  1. Build a Letter Tower: Using legos, build a tower using different colored blocks. Each block should represent a letter of the alphabet. As you build the tower, say the name of each letter aloud.
  2. Word Building with Magnet Tiles: Use magnet tiles to build simple words. Start with three-letter words and gradually increase the complexity. Sound out each letter as you place it on the surface.
  3. Create a Story Scene: Build a scene using legos and magnet tiles that represents a story you have read or heard before. Use your imagination to bring the story to life. Once you have built the scene, tell the story using the characters and objects you created.
  4. Alphabet Hunt: Hide magnet tiles with different letters around the room. Go on a letter hunt and find as many letters as you can. Once you find a letter, say its name and place it on a flat surface to create a letter collection.
