Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to apply basic woodworking skills to create a small wooden project while engaging in physical activity.

  • Woodworking tools (hammer, saw, sandpaper, etc.)
  • Wooden boards or blocks
  • Safety goggles
  • Workbench or sturdy table
  • Protective gloves
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Wood glue
  • Instructions or plans for a simple woodworking project

Activities

  1. Warm-up: Begin with a 10-minute dynamic stretching routine to prepare your body for physical activity.

  2. Introduction to woodworking: Discuss the basics of woodworking, including safety precautions and proper tool usage. Demonstrate how to measure, mark, and cut wood accurately.

  3. Woodworking project: Provide the student with a set of instructions or plans for a simple woodworking project, such as a small shelf or a wooden toy. Guide them through the process, emphasizing proper technique and safety. Encourage them to measure, cut, shape, and assemble the pieces of wood to complete the project.

  4. Cool-down: Finish the lesson with a 5-minute static stretching routine to help your muscles recover.
