Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to recognize and say the names of different animals.

Materials and Prep

• Stuffed animals or pictures of animals
• Colorful flashcards with animal names
• A playful attitude and lots of energy!

Activities

• Animal Parade: Line up your stuffed animals and walk around the room, saying the names of each animal as you pass by.

• Animal Sound Match: Make animal sounds and have your child guess which animal makes that sound.

• Animal Charades: Act out the movements of different animals and have your child guess which animal you are pretending to be.

Talking Points

• Say, "Let's learn about animals today! Animals are living creatures that come in all shapes and sizes."
• Say, "What sound does a dog make? Woof woof! Can you bark like a dog?"
• Say, "Look at this picture! This is a cat. Can you say 'cat'? Meow!"
• Say, "Animals move in different ways. Can you hop like a bunny or slither like a snake?"
