No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Start by discussing with the student what they know about horses. Ask them questions about the appearance, characteristics, and what they like about horses.
  2. Explain that they will be creating their own horse artwork. Encourage them to think about the colors, shapes, and patterns they would like to use.
  3. Using the pencil, have the student lightly sketch the outline of a horse on the white paper. Remind them to include details such as the head, body, legs, and tail.
  4. Once the outline is complete, have the student use colored pencils or crayons to fill in their horse with their chosen colors. They can also add additional details like a mane, saddle, or background scenery.
  5. Encourage the student to take their time and be creative with their artwork. Remind them that there is no right or wrong way to create their horse.
  6. Once the artwork is complete, have the student share and explain their artwork to you or other family members.
