Objective

By the end of this lesson, Audrey will be able to select, apply, and describe appropriate phonological, orthographic, and morphological generalizations and strategies when spelling in a range of contexts.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Paper, pencil, colored markers

Activities

1. Phonics Hunt: Audrey will search for objects around the house and write their names focusing on the sounds of the letters.

2. Word Building: Using colored markers, Audrey will create new words by changing one letter at a time and explain the spelling rules applied.

3. Story Time Spelling: Audrey will write a short story and highlight interesting spellings she used, explaining why she chose those spellings.
