Objective

By the end of this lesson, the homeschool student will be able to analyze and comprehend reading passages related to cars, and apply critical thinking skills to answer comprehension questions.

Materials and Prep

  • Reading passages about cars (can be found online or in books)
  • Pen or pencil
  • Notebook or paper for taking notes

Activities

  1. Read a passage about cars together with the student.

    Encourage the student to take notes while reading to help with comprehension.

  2. Discuss the main ideas and key details of the passage.

    Ask the student questions about the passage to ensure understanding.

  3. Have the student write a short summary of the passage in their own words.

    Encourage them to use their notes to help with accuracy.

  4. Provide the student with comprehension questions related to the passage.

    Have them answer the questions using evidence from the text.

  5. Review the answers together and discuss any areas of confusion or misunderstanding.

    Offer additional explanations or examples if needed.
