Activities
Read a gardening-themed picture book together. Discuss the story, characters, and any gardening-related vocabulary encountered.
Introduce flashcards with gardening-related words. Practice reading and pronouncing the words together.
Complete worksheets with reading activities related to gardening. These may include matching pictures to words, filling in missing letters, or simple sentence completion exercises.
If available, take a walk to a garden or outdoor space. Observe and discuss different plants, flowers, and insects encountered. Encourage the student to read any signs or labels found in the garden.
End the lesson by reviewing the new vocabulary words and summarizing what was learned about gardening.
