Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will improve their mobility skills through crawling and reaching for objects, while also beginning to understand basic words associated with movement and objects.
Materials and Prep
- No additional materials are needed; the lesson will utilize the student's own body movements and natural surroundings.
- Prepare a safe and open space for crawling and movement.
- Be ready to engage with simple words and encourage the student to explore their environment.
Activities
-
Crawling Race: Set up a short distance for the student to crawl towards you. Encourage them to reach for you while you cheer them on with simple words like "go!" and "yay!"
-
Reach and Grab: Place a few safe objects (like soft toys) just out of reach. Encourage the student to crawl towards the objects and use words like "grab" and "reach" to help them associate the actions with the words.
-
Follow the Leader: Crawl around the space yourself, making fun sounds and movements. Encourage the student to follow you while using words like "come" and "follow."

- "Yay! You did it! You grabbed the toy!"
