Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to read and understand a short passage about riding a bike.
Materials and Prep
- A book or a printed passage about riding a bike
- A bike helmet (optional)
- A bike (optional)
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have the book or passage ready to read with your student. If you have a bike helmet and a bike, you can also use them to make the lesson more interactive.
Activities
- Start by introducing the topic of riding a bike to your student. Ask them if they have ever ridden a bike or seen someone riding a bike.
- Show your student the book or passage about riding a bike. Read it together, pointing to each word as you read.
- After reading, ask your student questions about the passage to check their understanding. You can ask questions like, "What is the main idea of the passage?" or "What are some safety rules mentioned in the passage?"
- If you have a bike helmet and a bike, you can demonstrate the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a bike. Put on the helmet and explain why it is necessary for safety.
- Encourage your student to draw a picture of themselves riding a bike. Ask them to include details from the passage, such as a helmet and safety rules.
