Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize different musical instruments, explore sounds they make, and express enjoyment through music and movement.

Materials and Prep

  • No materials are needed for this lesson, just your voice and enthusiasm!
  • Be prepared to make sounds and movements that mimic musical instruments.

Activities

  • Instrument Sounds: Make sounds of different musical instruments using your voice. For example, pretend to play a drum by tapping your knees and saying "boom boom!" or mimic a flute by blowing softly and saying "toot toot!"

  • Musical Movement: Play a fun song and encourage the child to dance around. You can say, "Let's wiggle like a guitar!" and show them how to move their body like different instruments.

  • Instrument Guessing Game: Make a sound of an instrument and ask the child, "What instrument is this?" Encourage them to guess and respond, helping them learn to recognize different sounds.

Talking Points

  • "Can you hear this sound? It's like a drum! Boom boom!"
  • "Look at me! I'm dancing like a guitar! Can you dance with me?"
  • "What sound do you think this is? Toot toot! It's a flute!"
  • "Let's make music together! Can you clap your hands like a tambourine?"
  • "Music is fun! Can you smile and dance? Yay for music!"
