Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify Elmo, understand his character traits, and express their feelings about Elmo through creative activities and discussions.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Crayons or markers
  • Imagination!

Before the lesson, make sure to talk about Elmo and what the student likes about him. This will help get them excited for the activities!

Activities

  • Elmo Drawing

    Have the student draw their favorite scene with Elmo. Encourage them to use lots of colors and to think about what Elmo is doing in that scene.

  • Elmo Feelings

    Ask the student to pretend to be Elmo and express how Elmo feels in different situations. For example, "How does Elmo feel when he plays with friends?"

  • Elmo Dance Party

    Play some music and have a mini dance party! Encourage the student to dance like Elmo and make silly moves. This will help them feel connected to Elmo's fun personality.

  • "Who is Elmo? Can you tell me something you love about him?"
  • "Elmo is a kind and friendly monster! What do you think makes him a good friend?"
  • "How do you think Elmo feels when he plays? Can you show me with your face?"
  • "What colors do you see when you think of Elmo? Let's use those colors in our drawing!"
  • "Why do you think everyone loves to dance with Elmo? Let's dance together like him!"
