Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and analyze different situations using critical thinking skills. They will learn how to ask the right questions, evaluate information, and make informed decisions.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen
  • Whiteboard or large piece of paper (optional for group activities)
  • Timer (optional for timed activities)

Before the lesson, prepare a few fun scenarios or problems that require critical thinking. Think of everyday situations that the student can relate to.

Activities

  • Scenario Analysis:

Present the student with a fun scenario, like "What would you do if you found a puppy on the street?" Ask them to think about the situation and come up with different solutions. Discuss the pros and cons of each solution.

  • Question Game:

Play a game where the student has to ask questions to uncover the truth about a mystery you create. For example, "Who took the last cookie?" The student will need to think critically about the questions they ask to figure out the answer.

  • Debate Time:

Choose a fun topic, like "Cats vs. Dogs: Which is better?" The student will have to think critically about their position and come up with reasons to support their argument.

  • Creative Problem Solving:

Give the student a problem to solve, such as "How can we make our backyard more fun?" Encourage them to brainstorm multiple ideas and evaluate which ones are the best.
