Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the values and skills learned in Cub Scouts, including teamwork, outdoor skills, and community service. The student will also participate in fun activities that relate to these concepts.

Materials and Prep

• First Aid Kit (for safety demonstration)

Before the lesson, make sure to review the basic principles of Cub Scouts and prepare any necessary craft supplies or snacks.

Activities

• Teamwork Challenge:

  Set up a simple obstacle course in the backyard or park. Have the student invite a friend or family member to join. They must work together to complete the course, helping each other along the way. Discuss how teamwork helps in Cub Scouts.

• Badge Crafting:

  Using the craft supplies, have the student design their own Cub Scout badge. They can think about what skills they want to earn and represent those skills in their badge design.

• Outdoor Snack Time:

  Prepare a fun outdoor snack like s'mores or trail mix. Discuss how Cub Scouts often enjoy snacks during camping trips and the importance of sharing food with friends.

• First Aid Basics:

  Use the First Aid Kit to teach the student some basic first aid skills. Show them how to bandage a small cut or scrape and discuss why it's important to know these skills when exploring outdoors.
