Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have a basic understanding of the life of Jesus, including key events and teachings, through engaging activities that make learning fun and memorable.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and crayons or markers for drawing
  • A quiet space for storytelling
  • Space for movement activities (like a living room or backyard)
  • Optional: A Bible or children's Bible storybook (for reference)

Activities

  • Story Time:

Read a simple story about Jesus, such as His birth or a miracle He performed. Use expressive voices and gestures to make the story come alive.

  • Drawing Jesus:

Have the student draw their favorite scene from the story you read. Encourage them to use lots of colors and explain what they drew.

  • Movement Activity:

Act out a story from Jesus' life. For example, pretend to be Jesus walking on water or feeding the 5,000. This helps them understand the events physically.

  • Memory Verse:

Choose a simple verse that Jesus taught, like "Love one another." Repeat it together and create a fun hand motion to remember it.

Talking Points

  • "Did you know that Jesus was born in a stable? That's like a barn! How do you think He felt?"
  • "Jesus did many miracles, like turning water into wine. Isn't that amazing? What miracle would you want to see?"
  • "Jesus taught us to love each other. Can you think of a way we can show love today?"
  • "When Jesus fed 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish, it showed how sharing is important. How can we share with others?"
  • "Jesus liked to help people. What is something nice you can do for someone today?"
  • "Jesus is a friend to everyone. How does it feel to have friends? What makes a good friend?"
