Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to read and understand a Minecraft-themed story, identify key elements of the narrative, and express their thoughts about the story through creative activities.
Materials and Prep
- A Minecraft-themed story or chapter (can be created or found online)
- Pencil and paper for notes and drawings
- Access to Minecraft (optional for discussion)
Before the lesson, ensure that the student has a basic understanding of Minecraft and its characters. Prepare a Minecraft-themed story that is age-appropriate and engaging.
Activities
-
Reading Time:
Start with a cozy reading session where the student reads the Minecraft story aloud. Encourage them to use different voices for different characters to make it fun!
-
Character Exploration:
After reading, have the student pick their favorite character from the story. They can draw the character and write a short description of what makes that character special.
-
Build Your Own Adventure:
Ask the student to create their own Minecraft adventure story. They can write it down or tell it to you while you record it. Encourage them to include challenges and how the characters overcome them!
-
Discussion Time:
Engage in a discussion about the story. Ask questions about what they liked, what they would change, and how they would feel in the characters’ shoes.
Talking Points
- "What was your favorite part of the story? Why did you like it?"
- "Can you tell me about the main character? What makes them interesting?"
- "If you could be any character in Minecraft, who would you be and why?"

- "How does this story remind you of your own Minecraft adventures?"
- "If you could add a new character to the story, who would it be?"
