Objective
By the end of this lesson, Lively will be able to identify and describe different reptiles, amphibians, and fish, and understand their unique characteristics and habitats.
Materials and Prep
- No special materials needed; just a curious mind!
- Be ready to explore and share interesting facts about reptiles, amphibians, and fish.
- Think of some examples of each type of animal to discuss during the lesson.
Activities
-
Animal Charades:
Lively can act out different reptiles, amphibians, and fish while you guess what they are! This will help her learn the movements and characteristics of each animal.
-
Habitat Creation:
Using her imagination, Lively can describe or draw a habitat for each type of animal. For instance, what does a frog need to live? What about a turtle?
-
Story Time:
Read a short story about a reptile, amphibian, or fish. Discuss the story afterward and ask Lively what she liked about the animal in the story.
-
Animal Sounds:
Make sounds that different reptiles, amphibians, and fish might make. Lively can try to imitate the sounds and guess which animal makes them!
Talking Points
- "Did you know that reptiles have scaly skin? Can you feel your skin? It’s different, right?"
- "Amphibians like frogs can live both in water and on land! Isn’t that cool?"
- "Fish breathe underwater using gills. How do you think they swim?"
- "Some reptiles, like snakes, can move very quietly. Can you pretend to be a snake?"
- "What’s your favorite fish? Let’s think about what colors and shapes they have!"
