Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand key facts about dolphins, express their thoughts through a creative book report, and develop a deeper appreciation for marine life.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and colored pencils or crayons
- A notebook or journal for writing notes
- A timer (optional, for timed activities)
Before the lesson, the student should be encouraged to think about what they already know about dolphins and what they would like to learn. It's also helpful to have a comfortable space to work in.
Activities
-
Dolphin Research Time:
The student will spend some time researching dolphins using their own knowledge and any available resources. They can write down interesting facts they find, such as where dolphins live, what they eat, and how they communicate.
-
Create a Dolphin Poster:
Using paper and colored pencils, the student will create a colorful poster about dolphins. They can include drawings, facts, and even their own thoughts about dolphins. This will help them visualize what they’ve learned.
-
Book Report Presentation:
The student will prepare a short presentation of their book report on dolphins. They can share their poster and present the facts they found during their research. This will help them practice speaking and sharing information.
