With supervision, the student will follow the recipe to cook their chosen dish, applying their measuring and reading skills.

  • Historical Context:

The student will explore the history of the dish they are making, learning about its origins and any cultural significance.

  • Science of Cooking:

Discuss the science behind the cooking process, such as how heat changes ingredients and why certain ingredients are used together.

  • "Every dish has a history. Can you guess where your favorite dish comes from?"
  • "The science of cooking is fascinating! When we bake, the heat changes the batter into a delicious cake. Why do you think that happens?"
  • "What do you think would happen if we forgot to add baking powder to our recipe? Let's find out!"
  • "Cooking can be a fun experiment! If we change one ingredient, how do you think it will taste?"
  • "Have you ever tried to figure out the best way to mix ingredients? It’s all about technique!"
  • "Let’s think about the different textures we can create. What happens when we mix dry and wet ingredients?"
