Materials and Prep

  • Paper and pencils for note-taking and drawing
  • Access to a computer or tablet with internet for research
  • Timer for activity management
  • Whiteboard or large paper for brainstorming ideas

Before the lesson, familiarize yourself with key technological inventions and their inventors, such as the wheel, printing press, telephone, and computer. Make a list of interesting facts about each invention.

Activities

  • Technology Timeline Creation:

The student will create a timeline of major technological advancements from ancient times to the present. They can illustrate each invention and write a brief description of its significance.

  • Inventor Spotlight:

The student will choose one inventor (e.g., Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla) to research. They will prepare a short presentation about the inventor's life, major inventions, and impact on technology.

  • Debate: Technology – Good or Bad?

The student will engage in a friendly debate about the pros and cons of technology in our lives. They can list points on both sides and present their arguments.

  • Future Technology Brainstorm:

The student will brainstorm and draw their ideas for future technological inventions. They should think about problems that need solving and how technology can help.
